FRIDAY 18th JUNE, 2021. FRIDAY OF THE ELEVENTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR B.
READINGS; 2CORINTHIANS 11:18,21-30, PSALMS 34:2-7, MATTHEW 6:19-23.
The readings of today are making us ask the question “where is your treasure and what is your treasure? First what we need to find out is what is a treasure? A treasure is that which is the most important thing in your life, that which is so dear to you.
That is why Jesus is telling us that where your treasure is, there will your heart be, because you want to protect and safe guard that which is dear to you. If your treasure is in your house you will make sure that it is safe guarded.
The question is still there what is your treasure and where is it? From the first reading of today, St Paul boast about his suffering, he suffered for the sake of the gospel, he suffered for preaching his new found love in Jesus and he wanted everyone to discover and experience the love of Christ and he devoted his energy travelling and writing so that the goodnews may reach the end of the earth. This was his treasure, preaching the Good News of God.
What about you what is your treasure and where is it? Is your treasure in your family? It is in your vocation? If your family is your treasure you will provide for your family, you will always treasure being home with you family, if your vocation is your treasure, if serving God is your treasure you will dedicate your entire life serving God, doing his will.
This is what St Paul discovered in his life, it is something which cannot be taken away from him, for he was storing everything in heaven, he put his treasure in heaven and for sure if you put your treasure in heaven then your heart will be in heaven, and your final destination will be heaven.
Therefore let us store our treasure in heaven where no thieves can steal and no moth can destroy.
LET US PRAY TODAY THAT WE MAY DISCOVER WHAT AND WHERE OUR TREASURE IS AND GUARD IT WITH OUR WHOLE LIFE.
